The Undying Lamp of Dharma

Dear Fellow Evolving Soul,

I must confess that I never aspired to teach—except perhaps through writing, keeping a respectful distance from my audience. Or maybe someday down the line, in my white-bearded retirement, I would sit before a crowd of eager seekers and, through a weary and shaky voice, share a few pithy morsels of what I’d learned.

But a vision I had in 2013, while sitting atop a cliff overlooking the vast Pacific with a few of my spiritual brethren, has continued to haunt me. We’d been asked by our teacher, Andrew Cohen, to wrestle with this question: “What if I were the last man standing? Was if fulfilling the potential of the Evolutionary Dharma was entirely up to me alone?” Plunging into the heart of that koan, the overwhelming fact of nonduality began consuming me anew—not just that all of reality already is “me” alone, the One Consciousness that is the ultimate essence of everything, but that IT is equally “me,” Tom Huston, of flesh and blood and all-too-human. Not just the wave-as-Ocean, but also the Ocean-as-wave. It dawned on me what our Master had been patiently pointing us toward for years: the “true nonduality” of absolute and relative, emptiness and form, being and becoming—without bias, reduction, or remainder. As I excitedly gave voice to what I was experiencing, articulating to my peers the world-consuming evolutionary singularity I was seeing, they caught the fire and were swept into the same state. Suddenly, a single dolphin leapt from the sparkling sea below us, splashing for joy. In that mystical moment, the synchronicity felt like God smiling down upon us, Her quiet approval riding the rays of the San Francisco sun.

Our close-knit international sangha collapsed, unexpectedly, just a few weeks later, scattering each of us to the winds of so-called worldly life. But the ensuing years have only deepened my appreciation of the perfect jewel our Guru gifted us, embedding its five shimmering facets within our very souls. Evolutionary Dharma remains the most integral, practical, and relevant path I know—a contemporary tantric initiation into the mystery of nonduality that reawakens you to your natural state of Boundless Freedom and demands you embody it with unflinching integrity. It reveals Consciousness Itself as the ultimate substance of all that is, and calls you to express its dynamic, creative power, or shakti, in every dimension of life. Like all true Dharma, it requires everything from you—including everything you cling to as your “self”—because it literally offers the whole Kosmos in return.

This past March 25th—the date we celebrated each year as Freedom Has No History Day, the anniversary of his awakening—my teacher, Andrew, passed on from this plane. He didn’t just leave the body like an ordinary mortal. No, in classic mahāsiddha fashion, he chose his precise date of departure to issue one final teaching on the way out, a parting reminder of the ultimate truth: the eternally bright Awakened State evaporates history itself, dissolving all dreary time-bound dreams.

Meanwhile, this shared temporal worldspace grows darker by the day. Our systems are failing. Cultures are fragmenting. Earth’s biosphere is struggling to remain genial to human civilization. And Evolutionary Dharma, the one spiritual path best poised to help people soulfully navigate—and even creatively surf—these global roiling tides, is now lacking the physical presence of its leading metamodern pioneer.

Therefore, I can no longer justify waiting for someone else to carry it forward with the depth and clarity this potent Teaching requires. I’d long imagined sharing this work when I was older, ideally wiser. But that luxury of postponement has expired. The jewel Andrew handed me isn’t just precious and rare—it’s unmatched in its holistic, integral elegance and contemporary relevance.

The torch has been passed. And I can no longer hide my lamp under a bushel.

This new course is my first public solo effort to share it. It carries a fee so I can realistically devote the time it deserves, but it is not a “product” to be passively consumed. It is a living transmission of a powerful path. A stable container for real spiritual inquiry, disciplined practice, and the work of reordering one’s priorities around what truly matters. It’s an invitation to clarify your relationship with Life Itself, at every level of your being—physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual—and in all of your relationships and activities.

If you feel called to this work, it’s likely because something essential has already stirred within you. You’ve snapped out of the matrix and recognized the Real, even if only in brief glimpses, and can’t shake what you’ve seen. A deeper knowing has begun to shape your priorities. You feel a responsibility to find a way to live from that truth, to really Awaken. You’re no longer content to merely skirt the edges, dancing perpetual circles around your own true Heart.

Be warned, however: this path isn’t for everyone. It’s for those who are willing to wake up from the dramas of their personal stories, to grow up into the fullness of their unique human potential, and to show up in ecstatic service to something far greater than themselves. It’s for those who are ready to stop seeking, to stop being driven by a constant sense of lack—and to finally start flying and truly giving back.
